The kick-off meeting of the SusTourTraining project took place on the 5th and 6th of March in Valencia, Spain. The project started in September 2023 and is a continuation of the previous project “SUSTOWNS- Enhancing SUStainable tourism attraction in small fascinating MED TOWNS,” which was implemented by the Organization for Local Development – ANATOLIKI S.A. in Greece. It aims to address key challenges that were identified during the previous project regarding the green skills of workers in the tourism sector in the wider area of the Mediterranean Sea.
The project “SusTourTraining- Strengthening the Tourism value chain in small fascinating Mediterranean Towns through adult education focusing on sustainability” focuses on empowering workers employed in the tourism value chain through adult education with an emphasis on sustainable development. During the two-days Kick-Off meeting, partners planned the next project’s activities and organized the management tasks and actions for dissemination and exploitation of the results. The activities of the project will start with a joint survey regarding the skills (existing and desired) of workers in the tourism sector. Based on the results of the survey, the partnership will proceed with the development of adult educational material in the form of MOOC and the implementation of training sessions, dissemination workshops, and public events in the participating countries.
The partnership of the project consists of 5 organizations from Greece, Spain, Italy, Portugal, and Slovenia. ANATOLIKI S.A. participates in the project in collaboration with the Municipality of Thessaloniki and the Region of Central Macedonia, which participate in the consortium as Associated Partners, and will contribute to the successful implementation of the project and the involvement of beneficiaries in the trainings and events.
