The Forward Green Expo (FG-Expo) is a major business platform focusing on sustainable development, circular economy and green entrepreneurship. Organized by TIF-Helexpo for the third year from 13 to 15 March 2025, it hosted companies, organizations, institutions and research institutes active in areas such as recycling, renewable energy, smart waste management and environmental technologies.
The aim of the exhibition is to promote innovative solutions and foster collaboration between companies and institutions seeking to transition to a more sustainable economic and production model.
During the second day of the 3rd Forward Green Exhibition, on 14 March, the Regional Development Fund of Central Macedonia, the Organization for Local Development – ANATOLIKI S.A. and the Centre for Renewable Sources and Energy Saving, organized a joint event entitled Energy Transition and the Role of Local Authorities, in the framework of the REDI4HEAT, Plan4COLD and Life SMART projects, which are co-funded by the European LIFE Clean Energy Transition Programme.
Ms. Papadopoulou Vasiliki, representing ANATOLIKI S.A., presented the LIFE SMART project. The presentation focused on the importance of the technical support of the Municipalities in the process of their energy transition, facing the challenges they face due to their increased institutional obligations and their understaffing.
The event presented the European and national legislation on the carbonization of heating and cooling in LAs, as well as the role of local government in the transition from energy poverty to energy efficiency.
The speakers highlighted the synergies that can be developed through the three LIFE CET projects REDI4HEAT, PLAN4COLD and LIFE SMART, as well as the complementarity of their actions.
The presentations highlighted the importance of cooperation between institutions, organizations and local authorities for the energy transition and the adoption of sustainable solutions. The LIFE SMART project, together with the REDI4HEAT and PLAN4COLD programmes, are actively contributing to the development of a greener and more efficient energy model, laying the foundations for sustainable and environmentally friendly urban planning.
