On 31 October 2025, an information meeting was held at the offices of ANATOLIKI S.A. with representatives of the Municipality of Kalamaria, within the framework of the MedSeaRise project – Supporting adaptation to sea level rise in the Mediterranean.
The event was opened by Ms. Vasiliki Papadopoulou, General Director of ANATOLIKI S.A. Subsequently, Ms. Eleni Iordanidou, a member of the project team, presented the main objectives of the meeting. Afterwards, the external collaborators of ANATOLIKI S.A. from Democritus University of Thrace, Dr. Christos Makris and Dr. Giannis Androulidakis, presented in detail the Greek case study. Their presentation was very successful and received positive feedback from the participants.
An open discussion followed on the study results and the potential impacts projected under the different sea level rise scenarios. According to the findings, the Municipality of Kalamaria is expected to face limited impacts, mainly due to the geomorphology of the area.
The meeting concluded by setting the groundwork for organizing a larger event, where the results will be presented to a broader audience and stakeholders.
The MedSeaRise project started in January 2024 and will be completed in March 2026. Its aim is to assess the risks arising from sea level fluctuations in order to support effective adaptation to future marine conditions.
