Completion of the Interreg Euro-MED “MedSeaRise” Project with the Final Meeting in Nice, France

The 5th and final transnational meeting of the MedSeaRise project partnership, implemented under the Interreg Euro-MED Programme, was successfully completed and took place on 29–30 January 2026 at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Nice Côte d’Azur (CCINCA), in France.

ANATOLIKI S.A. was represented by Ms Vasiliki Papadopoulou, General Director of ANATOLIKI S.A. and Project Manager of the project, Ms Eleni Iordanidou, Communication Manager of the project, as well as Ms Rita Zevgara, representative of the Municipality of Kalamaria.

The first day of the meeting focused on project management issues and the progress of deliverables. The Work Package Leaders provided final guidance for the completion of deliverables by the end of the project in March 2026. The Communication Manager presented the results of the actions implemented under the Communication Plan, which demonstrated high outreach and a strong presence of the project on social media.

On the second day, the Programme Project Officer, Ms Agathe Spitz, presented useful information regarding the Interreg Euro-MED Programme, while Ms Vera Bougiouri, representative of the Natural Heritage Mission, provided constructive advice and comments on the final deliverables, the key project results, and the upcoming meetings.

The meeting concluded with a fruitful discussion among the stakeholders of the French partner and the other project partners. Particular emphasis was placed on the uncertainty inherent in the risk assessment process, which arises from the combined analysis of hazard, exposure, and vulnerability. These uncertainties affect the overall assessment of risks associated with sea level rise and were identified as a critical challenge that will continue to concern stakeholders even after the completion of the project.

The MedSeaRise project started in January 2024 and will be completed in March 2026. Its main objective is to assess the risks arising from sea level fluctuations, with the aim of strengthening effective adaptation to future marine conditions.
