ANATOLIKI participates in the Natural Heritage Mission’s Community of Practice meeting

On July 2nd and 3rd, ANATOLIKI S.A. Development Agency took part in the meeting of the Community of Practice of the Natural Heritage Mission, represented through its participation in the projects WEGOCOOP and MedSeaRise.

The Natural Heritage Mission of the Interreg Euro-MED Programme focuses on the protection, restoration, and valorisation of natural resources in the Euro-Mediterranean area. The NHM’s Community of Practice met in person at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) on July 2–3 for a dynamic gathering that fostered dialogue, innovation, and collaboration among mission partners and projects.

During these two days:

  • The joint action plan of the Mission For Nature (M4N) was aligned, and preparations were made for the upcoming Institutional Dialogue, to be held in Barcelona in November 2025,
  • The #SolveTheChallenge 2025 campaign was launched to support environmental governance,
  • Work progressed on the joint messages for the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) Regional Forum,
  • A workshop under the European Maritime Day – EMD In My Country initiative was held, presenting tools for Marine Protected Area managers,
  • Thematic sessions were organised on environmental governance, climate change in coastal areas, disaster risk reduction, nature-based solutions, forest management, and communication,
  • Discussions advanced on the mapping of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),
  • Local actions were showcased through the Greek Pilots Marketplace.

ANATOLIKI participated actively with three (3) representatives from the WEGOCOOP and MedSeaRise projects.

  • The WEGOCOOP project focuses on the development of Wetland Contracts and the creation of a Community of Practice around their implementation.
  •  The MedSeaRise project aims to improve the assessment of risks arising from sea level changes in the Mediterranean through reliable quantification and documentation of risk sources.

As part of the meeting, WEGOCOOP was presented by ms Tselepi Naya, along with the first solutions developed by the project, which are now integrated into the Mission For Nature (M4N) joint action plan.

Similarly, the MedSeaRise project was represented and presented by Ms. Vasso Papadopoulou during the workshops held as part of the European Maritime Day, attracting significant interest from participants. At the same time, during the workshops focused on the communication activities of the #SolveTheChallenge campaign, she actively participated by presenting material prepared by Ms. Eleni Iordanidou, which highlights the project’s impact on the shaping of environmental governance.
