LIFE NURTURE

“Enhancing urban resilience through community-based climate shelters”

The LIFE NURTURE project is funded under the Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) call of the LIFE Programme.

LIFE NURTURE aims to address both climate and social vulnerabilities affecting urban communities by activating community-based climate shelters in European cities, starting with the pilot areas of Thermi (Greece), Huelva (Spain), Rosignano (Italy), and District III of Rome (Italy).

By engaging local communities —citizens, schools, civil society organisations, private companies, and local authorities— in a shared process of co-design, co-funding, and co-management involving multiple stakeholders, the project will directly respond to the growing threat of urban heat islands, while simultaneously promoting social inclusion, public health, and well-being, with the aim of building long-term resilience.
