Marita Papagianni

Forester & Environmental Scientist, M.Sc.

Marita Papagianni is a Forester and Environmental Scientist, holding a degree from the School of Forestry and Natural Environment at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She holds an M.Sc. in Biodiversity and Taxonomy of Plants from the University of Edinburgh.

As part of her academic training, she developed expertise in the identification of plant species in the field, the study and use of botanical collections and herbaria, as well as the application of modern methods for investigating plant diversity and taxonomic relationships among species.

She has professional experience in academic and research institutions, as well as in the private sector, working in the fields of research, environmental management and sustainable development. She has contributed to the design and implementation of national and European co-funded projects in the areas of biodiversity, environment, sustainable tourism, local development, research and innovation.

As part of her professional career, she has been involved in projects funded under the LIFE, Horizon 2020, INTERREG, Erasmus+ and NSRF programmes, gaining experience in both the scientific and technical design of projects and the implementation and monitoring of co-funded activities.

She also has experience in the preparation and submission of technical project proposals and documentation, as well as in supporting the implementation of co-funded programmes. In addition, she has contributed to the design and delivery of communication, networking and dissemination activities aimed at promoting project outcomes and ensuring their effective outreach.
