Installation of Innovative TREE TALKERS Devices in Livadi Forest, Municipality of Thermi, within the ARCA Interreg IPA ADRION Project

As part of the “ARCA Interreg IPA Adrion Project – Artificial intelligence platform to prevent Climate change natural hAzards”, innovative TREE TALKERS devices equipped with Internet of Things (IoT) technology were installed in the Livadi Forest of the Municipality of Thermi, which serves as a pilot study area for the project.

These “smart” sensors collect eco-physiological measurements of trees such as temperature, humidity, and growth, providing valuable data for monitoring forest health and preventing natural disasters, such as wildfires.

Details:

  • On Wednesday, October 8, at the offices of ANATOLIKI S.A., 15 Tree Talker devices were officially delivered by the representatives of Nature 4.0, Silvio Stivanello and Dorin Caraman, who traveled from Italy. The devices include a wireless sensor network and video cameras. The delivery committee consisted of Ms. Sofia Astriti, Ms. Maria Magkrioti, Ms. Eleftheria Pita along with Ms. Vasiliki Papadopoulou, General Director, Ms. Naya Tselepí, Project Manager, and Mr. Sokratis Samaras, President of ANATOLIKI S.A. The Italian partners presented the operation of the 15 Cyber and 15 Fire Tree Talker devices.
  • On Thursday, October 9, and Friday, October 10, the Italian experts, together with the ANATOLIKI project team, proceeded to the Livadi Forest of the Municipality of Thermi to install the devices in fire-prone areas. The selection of locations was made in consultation with Mr. Konstantinos Kougioumtzidis, Deputy Mayor for Civil Protection of Thermi, Mr. Triantafyllos Bouhounas, forest protection consultant, and Mr. Heraklis Tavlikos, volunteer of the Livadi Civil Protection branch.

This initiative is implemented by ANATOLIKI S.A., project partner, in close collaboration with the Municipality of Thermi.
