On Monday 12 May the 2nd Training Workshop on Sustainable Tourism took place, in the framework of the SusTourTraining project co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme.
The workshop was held in the form of a seminar and was co-organised by the Experimental School of Higher Vocational Training in Tourism of Macedonia and the Organization for Local Development – ANATOLIKI S.A.
The seminar was the second face-to-face action of the project at local level.
At the beginning of the seminar, the Director of the School, Ms. Xeni Gerna and Ms. Naya Tselepi, Project Manager of ANATOLIKI S.A. gave short greetings. Then, Mr. Ioannis Eleftheriadis, representative of ANATOLIKI S.A., presented the project SusTourTraining and analyzed the course and the content of the MOOC type educational material, which is addressed to tourism professionals.
This was followed by a presentation by Ms. Vaso Rapti, tourism educator, on sustainable tourism and the role of employees in green development.
Of particular interest was the presentation of the Think Green project by the students of the School: Maria Eleni Kalenteroglou, Tryphon Kioutoutskas and Dimitris Paraskevopoulos, who highlighted good sustainability practices in hotel units.
The workshop was concluded with an interactive and creative workshop, implemented by Naya Tselepi, Eleftheria Pita, Ioannis Eleftheriadis and Anthi Paschalidou on behalf of ANATOLIKI S.A. In the context of the workshop, the students had the opportunity to approach practical aspects of sustainable tourism and to express ideas and suggestions for the implementation of new, good practices.
The workshop was an important step in raising awareness and educating future tourism professionals on sustainability issues. The active participation of the students, the exchange of ideas and the deepening of green development practices reinforce the main objective of the SusTourTraining project: the formation of a more responsible, innovative and environmentally aware tourism sector.
