On 16 April 2025, the European Commission adopted the 2025–2030 work plan for the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR)<\/strong> and the Energy Labelling Regulation<\/strong>. The plan aims to strengthen sustainable, repairable, circular and energy efficient products across Europe by introducing new requirements for products placed on the single market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Key Highlights of the Plan<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n
Priority Products<\/strong>: Steel, aluminium, textiles (with a focus on apparel<\/strong>), furniture, tyres, and mattresses are the main product categories that will be subject to new ecodesign and energy labelling requirements.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Horizontal Measures<\/strong>: Requirements will be introduced on repairability<\/strong> for products such as consumer electronics and small household appliances<\/strong>. This will include the introduction of a repairability score for products with the most potential, and requirements on recyclability of electrical and electronic equipment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Digital Product Passport<\/strong>: Information such as the carbon <\/strong>and environmental footprint<\/strong> of products will be made available primarily through a digital product passport<\/strong> or the European Product Registry for Energy Labelling (EPREL)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Support for SMEs<\/strong>: The Commission will pay special attention to the needs of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)<\/strong>, ensuring tailored support.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
