The DESICE project has just started and on 4.4.2024 we successfully finished our first online pre-Kick Off meeting. DESICE aims to improve the implementation of regional and local policies in the field of circular economy, with a specific focus on enhancing the capacity of product designers. This capacity building is expected to lead to benefits such as improved product design, increased market opportunities, cost savings, innovation, and better supply chain management.
The main issue addressed by the project is the challenges faced by local governments in transitioning to circular design principles due to financial constraints, lack of staff, and the need for new technologies and business models. The project aims to address these challenges by identifying good practices and innovative business models related to circular design of products and services that will lead to policy changes in the selected policy instruments of the regions that participate in the project.
The project is a collaboration between 8 partners from 7 EU countries and utilizes an integrated five steps approach with: problem characterization, identification of good practices, joint analysis and solution search, knowledge and practices transfer, and policy changes. ANATOLIKI S.A.-Organization for Local Development is the Lead Partner of the consortium and participates in the project with the Municipality of Thessaloniki, as the partner responsible for the Policy Instrument addressed from Greece.
DECISE is co-financed by the INTERREG Europe Programme. The overall budget of the project is 1.585.500 € and its duration is 51 months, starting from April 2024 until June 2028.
The next milestone of the project is the organization of the 1st physical meeting of the partnership on 3,4 June 2024, in Thessaloniki, Greece.
