Νέο έργο Κυκλικής Οικονομίας στον τομέα της Αγροδιατροφής για την ΑΝΑΤΟΛΙΚΗ Α.Ε και την Περιφέρεια Κεντρικής Μακεδονίας.
The program SINCE-AFC “Enhancing the Entrepreneurship of SMEs in Circular Economy of the Agro-Food Chain” was approved under the framework of the 4th Call of the INTERREG EUROPE Program having as lead partner ANATOLIKI S.A. The Region of Central Macedonia is also participating to the project consortium.
The Circular Economy is a new approach to the economic growth models and it allows waste to be used as an input into other production chains. With that process we have a more environmentally friendly business approach and longer life cycle of the products.
Although the principles of the Circular Economy are already in place by many large industries, SMEs, which account for 99% of the business sector, are still not involved due to lack of incentives and support. For this reason, improving the regional policies for SMEs towards the circular economy is of great importance.
SINCE-AFC aims to involve the agri-food production chain, processing, packaging, distribution and final consumption of SMEs in the circular economy by promoting the appropriate horizontal management and funding mechanisms.
Its actions are planned to be implemented alongside the ongoing EU action plan for the circular economy and the corresponding national circular economy projects in all EU countries.
The partnership scheme of the project involves 9 organizations from 7 EU countries - Greece, Italy, Ireland, Hungary, Romania, Poland and Bulgaria.
The duration of the program is four years with an official start on the 1st of August 2019.
The kick-off meeting of SINCE-AFC was organized by ANATOLIKI S.A. in Thessaloniki on 27th of June 2019. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Region of Central Macedonia, representatives of the Regional Development Fund of Central Macedonia and representatives of all project partners. During the meeting, the policy tools of the regions and metropolitan municipalities involved in the project were presented, linking them to the subject of boosting the entrepreneurship of the SMEs of the agri-food industry by exploiting the innovative opportunities of circular economy.
