Educational activities and games to promote alternative ways of living
An Environmental Awareness Raising Program will be implemented in the Municipalities of Thessaloniki, Thermi, Kalamaria and Pilea-Hortiatis, with the active participation of ANATOLIKI SA. The awareness raising program will be organized in the context of the Summer Recreational Activities for children of working parents during summer 2019.
The Summer Recreational Activities are implemented every year as a Municipality initiative. To enrich these activities, ANATOLIKI SA will involve the participating children in a series of educational activities and games designed to promote alternative ways of living and sustainable management of resources.
The main objective of the activities is to familiarize and create a relevant culture to the children so that they can be trained in alternative ways of managing water, food waste and energy in their everyday life. All the activities are designed so that the children will understand the sequence of human behavior in the natural and social environment.
Through creative-team games and free-experiential learning, children are given the opportunity to acquire a holistic view of human existence and behavior by promoting their participation in all the functions of the society and by encouraging them to take action for the environment, climate justice and global cooperation.
The activities are adapted to the cognitive and psychosocial level of all ages and are organized into three thematicss:
1. Sustainable water management
2. Reduction of food waste
3. Sustainable energy management
More specifically: each thematic will include the application of the educational material and the organization and coordination of team projects. The tools that are going to be used are team games, quiz and crafts.
The Environmental Awareness Raising Program is implemented in the context of the project “Change the Power – (Em) Power to Change: Local Authorities towards SDGs & Climate Justice/EuropeAid” (co-financed by EuropAid). This year ANATOLIKI’s Awareness Program will run from June 24th to August 13th 2019, seeking to capitalize on earlier experience and to sensitize as many children as possible.
