ENERGY
Energy Poverty Advisory Hub (EPAH), 2020-2024
The EPAH initiative is supported by the European Commission and is implemented within the framework of the EU Energy Observatory for Energy Poverty, the Covenant of Mayors and the Clean Islands Initiatives for the EU Islands. It focuses on empowering stakeholders with local assessments, planning and actions in order to alleviate energy poverty. Its strategic goal is to eradicate energy poverty and accelerate the equitable energy transition of European regions, cities and villages.
MED ENERJ
ENERJ is an Interreg MED project aiming at enhancing and improving the coordination of SEAP’s and other relevant energy Efficiency Plans, in order to reach Energy Saving and the National targets on public buildings’ energy efficiency. The project will develop and test a technologically oriented methodology that focuses on increasing cooperation among public authorities through Joint Actions.
LOCAL4GREEN
MED
LOCAL Policies for GREEN Energy
The MED project “LOCAL4GREEN” (LOCAL Policies for GREEN Energy-Green Energy Policies at local level) is an innovative project that supports local authorities-municipalities to define and implement innovative local fiscal policies in order to promote renewable energy sources (RES), in the public and private sector and households. The project is consistent with the framework of Sustainable Energy Action Plans (SEAP), approved by the Local Authorities by signing the Covenant of Mayors and concerns municipalities that combine urban and rural areas and also islands, where local fiscal policies have a key role in strengthening renewable energy sources. Due to financial and technical constraints of local authorities in such areas, the promotion of RES projects must give priority to cooperation and active participation of the private sector and households. Local authorities’ taxation tools are suitable to contribute to the participation of these stakeholders for the promotion and use of renewable energy.
SUPPORT
INTERREG Europe
The INTERREG project "SUPPORT" focuses on the difficulties facing many European cities and regions to implement sustainable energy policies. The EU strategy on climate and energy supports local and regional authorities in the implementation of sustainable energy policies. Under the Covenant of Mayors, more than 7000 municipalities have adopted Sustainable Energy Action Plans (SEAP) in order to improve energy efficiency and savings.
