3rd CONNECTION WORKSHOP IN THESSALONIKI
The third workshop of the European project CONNECTION (CONNEcting Cities Towards Integration actiON) will take place in Thessaloniki from 15 to 17 March 2022, within the framework of the first thematic unit (CoP-1) concerning the "Development of a strategic approach to integration, participation and interaction of refugees with the indigenous population"
ANATOLIKI SA, Organization for Local Development, participates as a partner in the European project CONNECTION, together with 22 other cities from 12 countries and in collaboration with the Municipalities of Thessaloniki and Delta.
The aim of the workshops is to exchange experiences on refugee and immigrant integration policies pursued by each city / partner and to select best practices.
In this context, on the first day, the municipality of Thessaloniki, city with a longer track-record of developing and implementing integration policies at the local level, will present its social policy and synergies with other bodies for the successful integration of immigrants and refugees. The next day, the municipality of Delta, municipality with less experience, will present the new integration strategies developed in the context of its participation in the connection project with the support of CoP-1 and intra-regional knowledge transfer, as well as existing migrant support structures / refugees. In addition, both municipalities will try to highlight and make clear the problems they are called to address. Finally, there will be guided tours to structures and places of reception that provide services to immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers.
The three-day workshop will be attended by representatives from Cop1's partners, in particular Paris, Turin and Piedmont Municipalities through ANCI and Zagreb.
The CONNECTION project is funded by the EU and its financial instrument AMIF (Asylum, Migration, and Integration Fund) and is coordinated by the European city network Eurocities and the NGO Migration Work, as an expert / technical consultant.
